Immersion is not an ordinary course. For a full week you live in French: five mornings and five afternoons, in a group of no more than eight people, in the heart of bilingual Brussels. No homework to catch up on in the evening — the work happens in the classroom, in French, from the first hour to the last.

At Bxl Academy your French immersion takes place at 19AD avenue des Arts, walking distance from Arts-Loi and the European Quarter. If you live or work in Brussels, you can be at the door in half an hour. If you are coming from elsewhere — from Flanders, the Netherlands or further afield — you turn it into a language week in a city where French carries on outside the classroom walls. Both profiles sit in the same group, and that is exactly what keeps immersion alive.

Five days, five hours a day, one language.

• Five mornings and five afternoons a week — you are immersed in French for the whole working week.
• 9.00 to 12.00 and 13.00 to 15.00 — five teaching hours a day, with a proper lunch break to catch your breath (and to keep practising over coffee).
• Groups of 3 to 8 people — enough classmates for a real discussion, few enough that you speak in every single hour.
• All levels, from A1 to C1 — you always start in the group that matches your level.

Mornings build structure: grammar, vocabulary and the foundations you fall back on when you speak under pressure. Afternoons put it to use — role plays, meeting simulations, current affairs, phone calls, presentations. What you learn in the morning, you use the same day.

In one week you get further than in six months of evening classes.

If you take two hours of class once a week, a large part of that class goes into recovering what was said the week before. In immersion, that lag disappears. You hear and speak French five days in a row, and the turning point — the moment you stop translating in your head and start thinking directly in French — usually arrives in the course of the second week.

Then there is Brussels itself. You leave the classroom and step straight into a French-speaking environment: the baker, your colleagues, the counter at the town hall, the radio in the taxi. Your immersion does not stop at 15.00 — and if you have come to Brussels specifically for the course, that advantage is stronger still: no falling back into your own language over dinner, no switching off the moment class ends.
